A client at my salon in Tampa grabbed my wrist mid-cut and asked if I was okay
I was 3 hours into a busy Saturday at the salon in Tampa and my hands were shaking from skipping lunch. A regular client named Dana stopped me in the middle of her trim, held my wrist, and asked when I had last eaten. I brushed it off at first, but she pulled out a granola bar from her bag and made me sit for 5 minutes before she'd let me keep cutting. That small pause changed how I schedule my day, and now I block 15 minutes for lunch no matter how packed my book is. Do any of you have a client who caught something you were ignoring?
Reading this hit me harder than I expected... Dana sounds like a really good person. The fact that she noticed your hands shaking while you were literally holding scissors near her head says a lot about how tuned in she was. People in service jobs get so used to pushing through that we forget our bodies are sending signals the whole time. I love that you actually kept the lunch break instead of going right back to old habits, that part is easy to talk about but hard to do. Hope your book stays full and your afternoons stay fed.
