Accidentally used purple toner on level 8 hair and got a grey mess

I had a client with brassy level 8 hair and grabbed the T18 toner by mistake instead of T14. It pulled WAY too much warmth out and left her looking like a dusty old wig. Has anyone else had toner mix-ups that gave totally unexpected results?

Heard a story once where someone grabbed violet shampoo instead of purple and ended up with swamp green. At least yours was only grey. Could be worse.
