Bleach disaster at the sink left me panicking on a Saturday afternoon

I was doing a root touch-up on a regular at the shop in Portland last Saturday and my bleach mixture started dripping down her neck... I grabbed a towel but it had already soaked into her blouse collar. I had to stop everything and use a color remover wipe on the fabric before it set in. Has anyone else had a bleach spill ruin a client's clothes mid-service?

Oh man, a friend of mine had something similar happen a few years back at her salon. She was doing a quick bleach retouch and the client shifted in the chair, cause the mixture to splatter onto this really nice silk blouse. She panicked and grabbed a damp paper towel to blot it, which only spread the bleach around more and left a lighter spot. By the time she realized she needed a color remover wipe, the fabric had a permanent faded mark. The client was super understanding about it, but my friend still felt awful and ended up paying for the blouse out of her own pocket. It's honestly such a nightmare when bleach lands on clothes mid-service.

Ugh, the "damp paper towel" panic move is such a trap. I did the same thing once when some developer splashed on my friend's couch cushion, and it just made this huge bleached crater. Felt so stupid after because I knew better, but in the moment your brain just shorts out.

The client who sat still while bleach dripped onto her blouse should have spoken up the second she felt moisture. Throwing a towel on it without knowing the fabric content or the bleach concentration is just asking for a bigger mess. Why would anyone trust a random damp cloth to fix a chemical burn instead of grabbing a color remover wipe right away?
