Bleached my own hair at home and it turned bright orange

I've been doing cosmetology for about 4 years now and I finally got brave enough to do my own balayage last weekend. Used a 30 volume developer with some lightener I got from the supply store. Left it on for 45 minutes like I do with clients but my hair lifted way faster and I ended up with this awful brassy orange color. My roots went almost white but the mids were straight pumpkin orange. Now I gotta figure out how to tone it down with some purple shampoo and maybe a demi color. Has anyone else messed up their own hair worse than a client's?

Pumpkin orange" is EXACTLY what I got too. Purple shampoo barely touched mine, I had to use a blue toner to fix it. At least you know what NOT to do next time, right?

Ngl I kinda like that pumpkin orange though, it looked intentional.

Did you test a strand first, or just wing the whole head at once?
