Dropped my shears mid-cut in a packed salon yesterday

I was doing a layered cut on a bridal party member in Denver and my hand just slipped. Shears hit the tile floor and the tension screw flew off into a vent. Had to finish the whole cut with my backup $40 pair. Has anyone else had a tool break at the worst possible moment and how did you handle the client?

Oh man, that's brutal! I can't even imagine trying to finish a bridal party cut with a cheap backup pair, that takes some serious skill to pull off. Honestly, you handled it way better than most people would've, especially with the bride right there watching everything.

Wait, you did the whole bridal party with a backup pair? Those cheap ones that come in a kit and never hold an edge for more than five minutes? I would have walked out halfway through the first bridesmaid. The bride was standing there watching the whole time too, that's just adding insult to injury. Did she even notice you were using the backup pair or was she too busy staring at her own reflection? You must have nerves of steel to pull that off without freaking out.

Totally agree with you @emma_flores, that was a nightmare scenario. I've been there with shitty scissors before and it makes every snag feel like your heart is gonna stop. Having the bride watch while you're sweating it out is the worst kind of pressure, you did good to keep your cool.
