Filtered photo haircut request has me stumped

A client came in with a smartphone picture for a haircut idea. The image was so filtered, her hair looked like it was from a magazine. Her own hair is very frizzy and thick, nothing like the smooth style in the photo. I tried to talk about what would work for her, but she is set on that exact look. How do you guys handle these kind of situations with clients?

Ever wish you could just show them a before-and-after of their own hair?

Show them a side-by-side shot of their hair from two years ago. Like you said, @wendy131, it's all about that before-and-after moment. Maybe their ends were fried from too much heat styling, or the color was all washed out. Seeing it laid out like that hits different. They can't argue with pictures. It cuts through all the excuses and just shows the facts.

Oh, I feel that.

Totally, @wendy131. My mom still denies her perm phase.
