I finally hit 1000 haircuts and it felt like nothing special
I kept hearing from other stylists that when you hit a big number like 1000 cuts you'd feel like a pro or something. But last month I passed that milestone and honestly I just felt tired. What really mattered to me was the 3rd haircut I did on a little kid who sat perfectly still for once. That felt way bigger. Has anyone else had a milestone that felt totally overhyped?

i mean is hitting 1000 cuts really that deep lol. like yeah it's a number but who decided that was the big milestone anyway. sounds like someone made it up to sell some kinda course or something. i'd way rather remember the kid who finally sat still too, that's actual progress not just a tally mark. feels like we put too much pressure on these arbitrary goals when the real stuff happens in the small moments.

and honestly maybe we should stop counting altogether. the focus on numbers takes away from the actual craft of making people feel good about themselves.

Stella's right about that whole "who decided that was the big milestone" thing. It's like someone just picked a round number and everyone ran with it. The kid who sat still tells you way more about your actual skills than a tally mark does. Numbers like that are just for bragging, not for real growth as a stylist. The small wins are the ones that actually stick with you and make you proud of your work.
