I used to thin out thick hair with just texturizing shears until a client in July pointed out the damage

For years I'd grab my thinning shears and go to town on thick heads of hair, thinking it made the cut softer. Last July a client came back crying because her ends looked ragged and broken after 2 weeks. I realized the shears were actually cutting some strands in half instead of just removing bulk. Now I point-cut everything first and only use my razor for heavy density work, and I've had zero complaints since. Anyone else switch up their technique after a bad outcome like this?

ragged and broken after 2 weeks" oh no, that's rough. My friend Jenna did the exact same thing with her thinning shears on a super thick client last year. The client came back in three weeks with these little split ends everywhere and her hair looked like it had been chewed on by a puppy. Jenna felt so bad she switched to using a straight razor for bulk removal and never looked back.

Her hair looked like it had been chewed on by a puppy"... wow, that's a horrifying image. I can't imagine a client walking back in with split ends that bad after paying for a cut. Did Jenna at least comp her next service or throw in some deep conditioning for free?

Hold on, are we sure this isn't just normal breakage from a bad home dye job or a shitty flat iron? People love to blame the scissors when their hair was already toast.
