Showerthought: How long does it really take to master a balayage highlight pattern?
I spent like 3 hours on a balayage last Tuesday for a client who wanted that soft, lived-in look, but the foiling placement alone took me 45 extra minutes because I kept second-guessing the sections. On the other hand, my coworker swears by a quicker freehand method that she nails in under 2 hours, but her results look inconsistent to me. Which side do you all lean toward for tricky patterns - detailed precision or speed with less structure?

Switched to detailed precision after too many fix-it jobs. Slower but way less headache.

Laughing at myself because I tried that approach once... spent three hours measuring a single stud bay down to the sixteenth of an inch. Turned out the wall was bowed anyway. So much for precision.
