Talking to a veteran stylist about sectioning changed my whole approach

I was at a salon in Nashville last week and this older stylist watched me section a client for a cut and straight up told me I was making it too complicated, just grab bigger chunks and work faster. She said precision comes from how you hold the shears, not from having 20 tiny clips in the hair. Has anyone else had an old school tip click way later than it should have?

Does this mean I can finally retire my collection of 47 sectioning clips?

47 sectioning clips is honestly impressive but also kind of terrifying. I once saw someone use 30 and they still had hair sliding everywhere like it was trying to escape. That collection probably has more sentimental value than any new tool ever will.
