Tried a new hair lightener and my client ended up with pink roots

Last Tuesday in my chair at Shear Bliss in Austin, I used a fresh bottle of Luminoso Brightening Powder and after 25 minutes her roots looked like bubblegum. Has anyone else had a dye job go totally sideways with a product that worked fine before?

Three weeks ago I used that same Luminoso powder on my sister and it lifted her roots to a perfect honey blonde. But I swear something is off with the current batch because I heard from two other stylists at the supply shop saying the same thing about it leaving pink or orange tones. It's weird how one product can just flip on you like that. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a lot of stuff we rely on regularly has these random quality swings now, like how my usual avocado brand suddenly tastes bitter or my go-to laundry detergent stopped getting out grass stains.

Same thing happened at my shop last week. We had to strip and redo a whole head because of that orange mess.

Yeah the Luminoso batch thing is weird... but honey blonde doesn't come from that powder, it's more of a beige toner situation. Your sister probably got lucky with her starting level or something.
