Tried a new toner on a regular client and it turned her hair purple

I used a lavender toner on my client Diane's blonde highlights last Tuesday, and within 20 minutes she looked like a grape. Has anyone else had a toner react weirdly with a specific brand of bleach?

My friend's hair turned green last month with a purple toner on box dye.

Oh man, wait - her HAIR turned GREEN from a purple toner?? That's wild. Like I've seen brassiness or weird tones before but green sounds next level. Was it like a swampy green or more of a minty shade? I can't even picture what combo of box dye and toner would do that. Purple's supposed to cancel yellow not make green. That's honestly kind of impressive in the worst way.

Figured there was a box dye involved somewhere because that's the only way the math works out to green like that. It's like when people mix cleaning supplies and end up with a chemical cloud in their bathroom, you really gotta wonder what went through their head at that one crucial moment.
