Vent: A client's kid tried to 'help' during a color service
I was doing a full foil in my home studio in Boise last week, and my client's six year old wandered in. He grabbed a bottle of 20 volume developer off my cart, held it up, and said 'Mommy, this smells like pool water, can I have some?' I had to calmly explain it was special hair juice, not a drink, while his mom was mid-process with foils in. The whole thing took about five minutes to sort out before I could get back to timing her color. Has anyone else had a little helper cause a funny mix-up during a service?

My stylist in Portland said a toddler once tried to brush a client's hair with a tail comb.

Oh man, that visual is too funny. It makes you wonder what goes through their heads, like a tail comb is just a tiny fancy hairbrush. It's that total logic of a kid, same as what milesk27 said about "hair frosting." They don't see tools or chemicals, they just see a cool toy or a snack. My niece once tried to "paint" our dog with my mom's lipstick because it looked like a crayon. They just follow the fun idea without any of the rules.

My friend had a client's daughter who was convinced the bowl and brush were for baking. She kept asking if they were making a cake for the hair. The kid tried to stir the color with a plastic toy spoon she had in her pocket. My friend had to quickly swap it out for her real brush before there was glittery pink plastic mixed into the formula.

Special hair juice" is a great save, lmao. I once told a kid my lightener was "hair frosting" and he asked if he could eat it, so I feel you. Kids just see the funniest possible use for everything.
