Vent: dropped $1,100 on a keratin certification class in Dallas and the kit was junk

Back in 2019 I paid $1,100 for a two day keratin smoothing cert in Dallas because the flyer promised I could add $300 services right away. The instructor spent four hours on sales talk and maybe 90 minutes on actual application, then handed us a starter kit where the flat iron died on client number two. I ended up buying my own $80 iron and relearning the whole process from a stylist in Fort Worth who charged me $150 for a private lesson that actually stuck. Now before I sign up for any class I ask to see the kit list and talk to a past student first. Has anyone found a continuing ed class that was actually worth the money, or is it all just a cash grab now?
