Vent: Overheard a client at the grocery store say 'anyone with a license can do a basic color' and it made me see red.
It completely ignores the 1500 hours of training and constant chemistry updates we need just to avoid turning someone's hair green.

Used to think it was just mixing bottles until I saw what happened to @jade_jenkins's cousin. That purple disaster showed me there's real science in every step. It's not just color, it's knowing how different hair reacts. One wrong move and you're fixing damage for months, not just a weird shade. Makes you respect the training, right?

This is one of those things where people think they can shortcut their way through something that took someone else years to learn. It happens everywhere not just with hair dye. I've seen it with cooking, like someone watches two YouTube videos on baking bread and then acts surprised when their loaf comes out like a brick. Or people trying to fix their own cars based on a forum post and ending up with a bigger mess in their driveway. We all want to believe we can just wing it and get the same results as someone who put in the time. But there's always that invisible layer of knowledge you don't see until it's too late. So yeah, it really makes you appreciate the people who actually learned the science behind the thing they're doing.

My sister tried a box dye on her black hair last year. Seeing that orange mess up close made me realize there's a lot more to it than following the instructions on a kit.
