I finally started using a cheap laser pointer for blind lifts and it cut my setup time in half

About six weeks ago on a tight site in Charlotte, my spotter was tied up and I had to place a duct bank section between two walls I couldn't see. I grabbed a $15 laser pointer from my truck and taped it to the cab window, lining the red dot up with my hook. The before was me inching it down and waiting for radio calls, maybe five minutes of guesswork. After using the laser, I had the block centered and set in under two and a half minutes because I could see exactly where my hook was over the target. Has anyone else tried a similar trick for those awkward, out-of-sight picks?

That's a solid tip, but just a heads up, those cheap red lasers can be hard to see in bright sun. I had to switch to a green one for outdoor work.

Totally agree on the green laser. Bought a red one years ago for marking fence lines and it was useless past noon. The green one costs more but you can actually see the dot on a bright day. Makes a huge difference for any outdoor setup.

Wait you just taped a fifteen dollar laser to your cab window? That's the kind of ghetto rigging that either gets you fired or makes you a legend, no in between lol. I'm shocked the vibration didn't shake it out of line before you even got the load off the ground.
