I found a trick for leveling out on soft ground using plywood... but is it always the right call?
So we had a job last month up near Portland where the ground was basically mud after three days of rain. My outriggers were sinking no matter what I did. I tried stacking some old 2x12s I found on site, but they just cracked under the pressure. Then this old timer told me to use a double layer of 3/4 inch plywood, like 4 foot by 4 foot sheets, and put them under each pad. It worked perfectly, no sinking at all. But now I'm wondering if that's just a bandaid and if there's a better way for really loose soil. What do you guys use when the ground is this bad?

MAN that takes me back. I tried using some old conveyor belt rubber once at a job near the river. Worked GREAT until the sun came out and it started stinking like hot tires for the rest of the day. Whole crew was complaining by lunch.
