Old timer in Houston told me to grease the boom pins every single shift without fail

Back in 2018, a guy named Ray who ran a 90-ton Link-Belt told me to grease the boom pins every single shift without fail. I thought he was being over the top, you know, a little obsessive. But after I skipped a few days on a 60-day job near the ship channel and started hearing that squeak, I spent half a Saturday pulling pins and cleaning out dried up grease. Has anyone else had a veteran give them advice that seemed like overkill but ended up saving their backside?

That old timer wisdom about greasing pins has saved my bacon more times than I can count.

Amen to that. Kept my old trailer rolling for years.

Hate seeing a good trailer go to the scrap yard. @victor779 you definitely got your money's worth out of that old rig. I had a tandem axle that finally gave up the ghost last year, frame just couldn't take another summer hauling gravel. Miss that thing every time I have to rent something now.
