PSA: I thought those wireless load cells were a gimmick until the job in Tacoma
Two summers ago my company picked up a tilt-up job in Tacoma and the super handed me a set of wireless load cells for the hook. I figured it was just another gadget that would die in the rain or lose signal, so I kept my dial gauge on the headache ball as backup the whole first week. By day four the receiver caught a 1,400 pound drift on a pick I had already called good, and it turned out one of the slings was creeping. I've run them on every pick over 10 tons since, but I still keep the mechanical gauge clipped on out of habit. Anyone else here had a close call a load cell caught before it turned into a bad day?
