Set up a brand new Grove RT on uneven ground and the leveling gauge read perfect while the cab was clearly tilted 4 degrees
Turns out the transit wasn't seated in its cradle when the factory shipped it, so I spent an hour trusting a floating needle before a spotter screamed at me from the pad, and I had to recalibrate everything while a client in a hard hat filmed the whole thing for his safety meeting, has anyone else caught a fresh rig lying to them straight off the trailer?

Man, that is brutal! 😂 But honestly, it kind of proves the point that we trust the fancy tool before we trust our own eyes. Like, we all do it with our phones' GPS telling us to turn into a lake, or the scale at the doctor's office reading ten pounds lighter than the one at home. We just assume the machine is right and we're wrong, even when every other signal is screaming otherwise. Your level gauge was the same thing, just with way higher stakes and a very angry spotter involved. It's a good reminder that a fresh tool is just a tool until you've watched it work, you know? Is that really about trusting the tool over our own eyes, or just about the cost of being wrong being higher when you're the one holding the gauge? I've seen plenty of times where the human read was off and the instrument caught it, so the problem isn't the machine, it's that we don't verify anything before acting on it. The takeaway for me is less about blind faith in tools and more about having a simple check built into the routine, like a second pair of eyes, before the stakes climb.
