That $2,800 load cell calibration I skipped still stings
Back in 2019 I was running a 50 ton Grove in Tulsa and the load indicator was reading about 400 lbs off. The shop quoted me $2,800 to send the hook block out for calibration, and I figured, nah, I can just offset my picks a little. Took a 12 ton beam that was actually 11.6 and swung it right into a parked Ford F-250 because my math was off by my own damn estimate. Insurance covered the truck but my company's deductible ate my whole bonus that quarter. Anyone else ever tried to cheap out on a sensor or calibration and had it bite them twice as hard?

400 lbs off" sounds like free money until it's not, I once trusted a rusty tape measure and lost a whole weekend.
