The day I stopped using the old manual load charts for good

I was running a Grove RT540E last week on a job in Cleveland and pulled out my old laminated chart like I always did. My younger operator looked at me funny and showed me the load moment indicator on the cab screen. It showed the same numbers but updated for the exact boom angle and radius in real time. I didn't trust it at first but after checking three picks against the chart it was spot on every time. Has anyone else had to make the switch from paper to digital and felt a bit old school about it?

I get what you mean about feeling old school. That part about being "looked at funny" hit home because I had the same thing happen with my nephew on a job last month. The digital load moment indicators are solid but I still catch myself double checking with the paper chart just out of habit. It took me a few weeks to fully trust the screen, but honestly it's way nicer not having to flip through a wet laminated sheet when its raining or windy. Just keep both around until you feel good about it.
