A client told me my logos all looked like clip art and she was right

I had a client back in March who runs a bakery downtown. She looked at my third round of concepts and said these look like clip art from 2005, not a brand. I was pretty steamed at first. But she was right. I was pulling from stock icon sets and calling it a day. So I started drawing my own shapes in Illustrator, even if theyre rough. Took me about 6 weeks to get comfortable with it. Has anyone else had a client call them out on something obvious they were avoiding?

Drawing your own shapes in Illustrator for 6 weeks straight just because one client said your stuff looked like clip art? Man, that's some serious dedication. I would have probably just found a better icon set or hired someone on Fiverr. You really took that criticism and ran with it, which is impressive. Most people would have just been mad and moved on.

Wait, 6 weeks straight? Thats borderline insanity, @rowan_thomas84. I would have snapped after the first week and just sent the client a refund. You must have some kind of superhuman patience or something.
