A designer at the Columbus meetup said she bills $85 an hour and I finally raised my own rate
I was at a small creative meetup in Columbus two weeks ago and a designer named Rachel mentioned her rate was $85 an hour. I had been charging $45 for almost 2 years and just assumed that was normal for our area. Hearing her say it so casually made me realize I never actually checked what other people were charging. So last Monday I told my next client my new rate was $65 and she said yes without blinking. I have 4 clients now at that rate and it is only $20 more per hour but it adds up fast. Has anyone else had a moment like this where someone else's number made you rethink your own?
