Choosing between two freelancing gigs changed how I price my work

I had to pick between a $600 logo job for a local coffee shop and a $1500 retainer for a startup last month. The coffee shop was fun and easy, but the startup had steady monthly work. I took the startup and it led to two more referrals this week. Kind of made me wonder if I've been undervaluing retainers this whole time. Anyone else found that smaller consistent clients beat one-off bigger payouts?
