Dead client's laptop password was my watermark initials
Tried to open the final logo files for a project due Friday and realized the guy who commissioned me in Tulsa set his password as JSH_88, which is literally my watermark initials, so I got in but now I'm wondering if I should tell his widow or just deliver the files and ask if anyone else has ever inherited access to a ghost client's assets?

That "ghost client" thing hit me hard, I had a similar deal a few years back with an old regular who passed and left me a folder of his stuff. I just delivered the final files to his wife and told her the password was his thing, not mine, and she laughed about it. For you, I'd say keep it simple, hand over the files and mention the password only if she asks, nobody needs that weird detail. I never told anyone about the initials thing on my end, it felt like a private joke between us. If the work is done and paid for, the widow just wants the logo files, not a mystery.
