Had a week last March where every single client call turned into a debate about my rates

It was brutal. I do freelance branding work, mostly logos and guidelines. For three days straight, every new client wanted to haggle. One guy said he could get a logo on Fiverr for $20 and I should match it. Another asked if I could drop my rate by half if they promised future work. By Friday I was ready to quit. But then on Saturday I picked up a small retainer gig with a local brewery in Portland and they paid my full rate no questions asked. That one good project made me remember why I don't chase the bargain hunters. Anyone else notice the cheap clients always waste more time than the ones who pay full price?

Fuck yeah. Cheap clients are always the biggest headache.

Feel you on this one. The hagglers always end up being the most work for the least pay too. Glad that brewery gig came through, those are the kind of clients that make it all worth sticking around for.
