Lost a $2,000 client because I changed my logo last Tuesday
I redesigned my freelance branding last month and sent out new proposals with the updated logo. One of my biggest clients emailed me Tuesday saying the new look felt too corporate and didn't match what they hired me for. Has anyone else had a brand refresh backfire on existing clients like this?

Man that really stinks, I feel for you. It's one thing when a random prospect doesn't vibe with your new look, but having an established client bail over something visual like a logo is just rough. I've seen this happen to a few people I know, and it always seems to catch them off guard. The tricky part is that clients form a emotional attachment to the old branding, even if it was outdated or messy. Maybe you could have rolled it out slower, like a soft launch with just new projects or a heads up email before the official switch. Either way, don't let this one reaction make you doubt the whole redesign too much, sometimes it's just bad timing or a mismatch in taste.

My cousin had a client drop them after a font change on their business cards. They spent weeks tweaking the kerning and ended up losing like three months of steady work over it. But then six months later the same client came back asking if they could use the new cards after all, so you never really know.

Yeah @cora518 that's solid advice, I switched my logo a few years back and just eased clients into it over two months which saved a couple of accounts.
