Serious question, why did I waste 2 years on Fiverr before trying a creative agency?

I used to hustle on Fiverr for 2 years, charging $50 for logo designs and getting ghosted half the time. Then last month I finally signed with a small agency in Portland, and my first client paid $500 for a whole brand kit. The difference was night and day - the agency handled all the client vetting and project briefs, stuff I was terrible at. Has anyone else found that going from solo gigs to a network like this way upped your game and your rates?

Ha! Pretty funny how Fiverr clients think "inspired by" means "just copy it.

Hang on, is this a pitch for the agency? Because most people I know who went from Fiverr to an agency ended up trading one set of headaches for another... now you've got account managers breathing down your neck and way less creative control. That $500 sounds nice but after the agency takes their cut and you're redoing the same font choices for the fourth time, it might not feel like such a win.

Backed out of a Fiverr project last year when a client wanted me to copy a Nike logo and called it "inspired by." The agency route is a trade off for sure. @diana512 has a point about the headaches - I tried a small agency in Austin for three months and the account manager kept changing my color palettes without asking me. Ended up going back to solo work but with a contract template I stole from that agency. Sometimes the middle ground is just stealing their good systems and ditching the rest.
