Spent $200 on a premium portfolio platform and got zero leads from it

I thought I was being smart by ditching free options for a paid site that cost me $200 a year, but the traffic died after month one. Has anyone else found a portfolio tool that actually brings in work without pouring extra cash into ads?

Yeah but a portfolio site alone isn't really gonna bring in work unless you're driving traffic to it yourself. Even the expensive ones don't do that part for you. You need to be posting your work on social media or networking in real life to get people to click through. I think a lot of folks assume paying for the tool means it does the marketing too and that's just not how it works.

Oh totally, reminds me of this photographer I know who spent like 2 grand on a fancy site and then just sat back waiting for clients to roll in. Nothing happened for like 8 months until she started posting behind-the-scenes stuff on Instagram.

Paying for a tool doesn't mean clients will just show up.
