The week our client list doubled overnight and I almost quit

Last March we picked up two big contracts back to back, went from 14 active clients to 29 in about 5 days. I remember staring at my project board like it was a wall of bricks, every color tag filled and two overlapping deadlines. We tried hiring a part time coordinator but she lasted 3 weeks before bailing, and my partner and I split the extra load by hand. By Friday I was answering emails at 11pm from a booth at Denny's on Route 9, but honestly the chaos made us tighten our whole intake process. Has anyone else had a sudden client surge that nearly broke your system, and what did you cut first to survive it?
