Warning: My audio interface failed mid-session and lost a client's mix

I was working on a final mix for a local band from Portland last Thursday when my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 just cut out completely. No warning, no crackle, just silence. I tried swapping cables, restarting my computer, even checked the power strip - nothing worked. Turns out the USB port on the interface itself had gone bad after 3 years of use. I had to borrow a friend's old interface to finish the mix by midnight. Has anyone else had a piece of gear fail at the worst possible time, and did you fix it or just replace it?

Man, that's brutal timing for sure. Did the USB port just wiggle loose over time or did it snap off clean? I had a Presonus interface die on me during a live stream once... just poof, gone. Ended up replacing it with a cheaper model, but I still miss that old one. Gotta say, gear always picks the worst moment to give up.

Wait, three vacuums in two months? Are you sure that's not a wiring issue in your house or something? Vacuums are pretty simple machines, they don't just die that fast unless there's a power surge or a bad outlet messing with them. Might be worth checking the breaker or plugging them into a different room before you buy a fourth one.
