Man, you just described my entire garage. I finally opened that fancy bread maker last week after two years. It was buried behind a juicer I used once and a pasta roller still in the box. I guess my future self who bakes sourdough from scratch finally showed up, and he's pretty bad at it so far.

Is it really sitting there if you end up using it? To me, that year wasn't wasted, it was just the time the idea needed to settle. Sometimes you buy a tool for a version of yourself that doesn't exist yet. Opening it after all that time means you were finally ready, and that's the whole point. The money spent just got the tool in your house, but you deciding to pick it up is what actually matters.
