Bought a $75 'prompt idea generator' app that just gave me random words
I saw an ad for this writing tool that promised unique story starters. Downloaded it, paid the fee, and opened it up. All it does is spit out three random nouns like 'clock, forest, whisper' with no context or setup. I feel like I got tricked because a free website could do the same thing. Do you think these paid prompt tools are ever worth it, or should we all just stick to our own brains and free lists?

I actually bought a similar app for like twenty bucks last year, same deal with random word combos. I used to think paying for prompts was fine if it helped beat writer's block, but that experience totally changed my mind. It feels lazy on the developer's part, like they just slapped a price tag on a basic randomizer. Now I just use a free site or even open a dictionary to random pages, it works the same. Spending money on that stuff seems like a total waste now lol.

@laura_schmidt82 Totally, it's just paying for a random button.

Ugh, that's so frustrating. Paying for a random word generator is a total scam, you're right. I'd be mad too.
