Cleaning out my desk had me thinking about writing prompt overload.

I was browsing for story ideas on prompt sites last night. Every list felt the same, with recycled themes that didn't spark anything new. I'm curious how others find fresh inspiration when everything seems repetitive.

Prompt lists always hit the same five dystopian or time travel plots. I get better ideas now by just listening to conversations in coffee shops. Hearing how people actually talk helps my brain make new connections.

Totally get that. I eavesdrop at the grocery store and the weird stuff people say sticks with me way more than any prompt.

Coffee shop listening is smart. Reminds me of last week at the grocery store. Overheard a guy arguing with his friend about whether a hot dog counts as a sandwich. Their logic was so weird and specific. Stuff like that sticks in my head longer than any "what if" prompt list. Real people come up with bizarre debates you'd never invent.
