Gave my writing group a 10 minute timer and got 4 stories I never expected
We usually write for 30 minutes but cut it to 10 last Tuesday at the library in Boise, and the short stuff was way better. My prompt was just 'the last voicemail you never deleted' and one guy wrote a whole thing about his dad's truck. What's the shortest time limit you've used that still got people writing something good?
Used to think you needed at least 20 minutes or people would just stare at the page. Ten minutes forced them to stop editing in their heads and just get words down.
