I was at the old train station in my town and saw a locked door with a faded '1924' painted on it.
It's just a plain metal door, but someone had scratched a tiny, perfect keyhole shape into the rust. I mean, it got me thinking about who locked it and what's inside. Maybe it's just me, but that feels like a whole story waiting to happen. What's the most random object or place that's given you a good story idea?

Random glove in a creek. @torres.thea gets it. That's the good stuff. I saw a broken pocket watch at a flea market, frozen at 3:14. Wrote a whole short story about a guy who died at that exact time every day. Those little details are the best seeds.

That "boring door" comment used to be me. Then I found a single leather work glove in a creek, fingers all curled in, and wrote a whole thing about the person who lost it. Now I see stories in weird little details everywhere.
