The kid at the library said my plot twist was lazy, now I can't unsee it
I was workshopping a short story at the main branch downtown and this 12 year old looked over my shoulder, said the villain's motive felt like a sticker slapped on at the end, and I spent the whole bus ride home pulling apart my last 4 drafts to see if I'd done the same thing, has anyone else had a stranger's casual critique stick way harder than any beta reader's notes?
