TIL most writing prompts rely on the same tired plot twists
I was scrolling through a prompt thread last night and noticed almost every post had a "they were actually dead the whole time" or "it was all a dream" twist. Out of 30 prompts I counted, 18 used one of those two ideas. It made me realize people think a surprise ending equals a good story, but really it just makes the setup feel pointless. Has anyone else seen this trend and tried something different for a change?

Heard a writing podcast say the best twists make the story deeper not just surprise you.
