Can we talk about the $38 overdraft fee that hit me three times in one day last Tuesday?
I got paid on a Friday and thought I was fine, then Tuesday morning I bought coffee for $4.75 and my card got declined at the counter in front of like six people. Turns out a gym charge I canceled back in June finally posted, and that one small hit triggered three $38 overdraft fees because my balance was sitting at $12. So I paid almost $115 in fees over a coffee and a gym membership I already quit. I called my bank and they reversed one of them, but the guy basically told me I should just keep more money in checking. Has anyone had luck getting all of them wiped, or is one reversal the best I can hope for?
I had the same thing happen and what worked was calling back and asking for the fee reversal team specifically, not the regular rep. The first person could only do one, but the second one wiped all three after I pointed out the charges posted out of order. Also ask them to turn off the auto overdraft thing so future charges just get declined instead of stacking fees.
