My buddy Jake in college had a similar thing happen. He maxed out three cards to buy a used motorcycle, then got a fourth one to pay the minimums. The guy at the check cashing place just shook his head and said "son, you're trying to bail out a sinking ship with a teaspoon." It stuck with him.

That "bailing out a sinking ship with a teaspoon" line is honestly perfect. But it makes me wonder - did your buddy Jake ever actually get out of that mess? Because I've seen people fall into that cycle where they genuinely think the next card or loan will fix everything. Like, at what point does the denial just hit rock bottom? I'm asking because I've got a cousin who's doing the exact same thing right now with payday loans (which is basically a thimble at that point).
