My credit score jumped 82 points after I disputed a single wrong collection from 2019

I found an old medical bill on my report that I already paid, filed a dispute through Credit Karma, and it vanished in 3 weeks - has anyone else had a random old bill drag their score down for no reason?

That sucks when old paid bills hang around like that. @uma_williams it's worth checking since those errors are more common than people think. Glad you got it cleared up finally.

Man that's good timing! I actually had something similar happen with an old cell phone bill from like two years ago. @robin628 I get why you'd call it free money but honestly it was more like the company made a mistake and I just happened to catch it. What worked for me was just scrolling through my bank statements from the last few months and cross-checking with the paid bills in my email. Found a double charge on a utility payment that way and got a quick refund. It's not free money it's just making sure you're not getting shorted.
