Racked up $2,300 in interest before a bank teller set me straight

I had this credit card through my local credit union in Columbus for like 4 years and I always just paid the minimum. Figured that was fine. One day I was depositing my delivery tips and the teller named Maria asked if I knew my APR was 22.99%. I said yeah whatever. She pulled up my statement and showed me I'd paid over $2,300 in interest in that time. That hit different. I switched to paying the full balance each month after that and started checking my statements weekly. Now my credit score jumped from 620 to 720 in about 18 months. Has anyone else had a random comment from a bank worker change how they handle their cards?

Maria telling me that made me realize how much money I was just throwing away for no reason.

Wait, what exactly was she buying that was such a waste? Was it like subscription services or something else she didn't notice adding up?

Read something similar on a finance blog once. This person tracked their "small" spending for a month and found over $200 on things like unused app subscriptions and daily coffee runs. It's wild how those tiny purchases add up without you really noticing.
