Unpopular opinion: Paying off your card in full every month is way better than just making the minimum payment

Did both for a year. My score jumped 40 points after six months of full payments. Anyone else see a big change after switching their payment strategy?

So that score jump is wild. But what about the people who say you need to carry a small balance to "show activity" and build credit faster? Is that total nonsense, or did you see any truth in it before you switched?

Yeah, that full payment thing is a game changer. It's not just about the score jump, it's about the interest you never have to pay. I used to think carrying a small balance was fine, but watching that interest add up every month is brutal. Switching to full payments basically gives you a raise because you stop giving that money to the bank for free.

Total myth about needing to carry a balance. It's just the banks trying to make you pay interest. Paying in full is the only way to win.

My first credit card bill taught me that lesson the hard way.
