Vent: Saw a credit card ad on a gas pump in Phoenix that made me laugh

I was filling up my car at a station off the I-10 last Tuesday and the screen on the pump started playing this ad. It was for a new credit card with 'amazing travel rewards'. The funny part was the ad kept freezing and glitching out, showing the same broken image of a beach over and over. It felt like a sign not to apply for more credit while I'm trying to pay off my current card. Has anyone else seen a credit offer that just seemed to break at the perfect time?

Remember reading about how those pump screens can get hacked to steal card info. The glitching might not be random, it could be a sign the whole terminal is sketchy. I'd be more worried about skimmers than the ad's message lol.

Yeah @the_harper mentioning skimmers just reminded me of this one time my card got cloned at a gas station ATM. The whole faceplate looked totally normal, but my bank called about a weird charge for like 200 bucks of video games an hour later. Makes you paranoid about every little glitch now.

My cousin in Tempe had a glitchy pump screen that actually hid a skimmer behind it. I always give the card reader a hard wiggle before I swipe now, and I only use pumps closest to the cashier's window. That broken beach image would have made me cancel the transaction and go to another station. Do you check the security seal on the pump before you insert your card?
