Same thing happened to me at a taco truck. Identity stolen for 4 bucks of free wifi.

Honestly, I've done the same thing so many times I'm basically running a free giveaway of my identity to every coffee shop in town.

Running a free giveaway of my identity" feels like a big stretch to me. I mean, unless you're typing your SS number into the Starbucks portal, what's really getting stolen here? Your email and a fake birthday probably isn't gonna ruin your life.
