Honestly, the way we used to handle passwords at my old shop versus now is a total night and day difference.

Remember when we just wrote them on a sticky note under the keyboard?

God, that brings back memories. We used to do the exact same thing at my old office. It felt so much simpler back then, even if it was a huge security risk. Now everything needs a password manager and two-factor stuff. Kinda miss the sticky note days, even if it was a bad idea.

Our old IT guy finally gave up and just gave everyone the same password for the printer. It was literally "print123" for like three years. I know it was dumb, but honestly, it just worked and nobody ever thought about it twice. Now I get locked out of my own email if I sneeze wrong. The old way was broken, but man, it was simple.

Sticky notes under the keyboard were a data breach waiting to happen, and "print123" being the office standard is exactly why we need all this annoying security now. The old way was broken because it let anyone with a pulse walk right into your whole network.
