How a 2-factor auth change saved my account in 48 hours
Honestly, I used to think 2-factor authentication was just a hassle. I had it set up with SMS codes and figured that was good enough. Then last Tuesday, I got a weird text from my bank about a login attempt in a city I've never been to, Austin. I ignored it at first, but then my email started getting flooded with password reset requests. Turns out, someone had my password from a data breach years ago. I switched my 2FA to an authenticator app that same day, and within 48 hours, the phishing attempts completely stopped. The app generates codes locally, so hackers can't intercept them like SMS. Has anyone else noticed a difference after ditching SMS codes for an authenticator app?

That Austin text changed my mind about authenticator apps too.

Lol fair enough but it's really not that deep. One text message isn't gonna rewrite my whole stance on security stuff. People just get caught up in the hype way too fast.

Changed my mind" feels a little dramatic for a text message honestly.
