My Aunt's 'password is your dog's name' advice finally clicked after 3 breaches

I was talking to my aunt last week about how she keeps getting hacked, and she told me she uses her dog's name with the year after it for everything. She said she's never had an issue, but I pulled up a stat showing 80% of breaches use info from social media. Have you guys ever convinced a family member to switch to a password manager or just given up?

@bennett.evan nailed it with that mechanic story. My neighbor has been going to the same hair salon for years even though they keep messing up her color and she ends up crying every time. She says she just feels weird trying someone new even when I show her reviews of better places. Routines feel safer than taking a chance on change even when the current thing is clearly broken.

Holy crap, you're telling me it's gotten to the point where people would rather stick with a habit that's making them sick or broke than try something new? Like my uncle who keeps going to the same mechanic even after they overcharged him three times and his car still makes that grinding noise. I swear I've seen that play out a hundred times with friends who refuse to switch doctors or dentists even when the current one keeps missing stuff. It's just bonkers how the brain picks comfort over common sense every single time.
