My firewall logs changed after I updated one firmware setting

I run a small home lab with about 12 devices connected, and last month I noticed my router's logs showing constant port scans from random IPs. I ignored it for a while because nothing seemed to happen, but then I decided to enable the built-in geo-blocking feature after reading a guide on here. Within 48 hours the scan attempts dropped from around 300 a day to maybe 10, and my ping time in games got more stable too. Has anyone else seen a huge difference just from turning on geo-filtering, or did I get lucky with my ISP's IP range? I'm wondering if I should add custom rules next or if that's overkill for a home setup.

Damn, my geo-block woke up and chose violence too. My scans dropped harder than my aim in game.
